










    Although the moa and elephant bird are both placed in the ratite group of flightless birds, their large sizes evolved convergently.
    Notably, the nine species of moa are the only avians to lack even vestigal wing bones.
    Thanks to their docile nature, the moa may be ridden. However, efforts to tame them outright have been unsuccessful.
